FOR THE STORIES WORTH PRESERVING

WE LEAVE EVIDENCE EVERYWHERE!

In handwriting, recipes, keepsakes, and stories told so many times everyone knows when to laugh. In the disorganized photographs on our phones, home movies we haven’t watched in years, and the boxes we’ve inherited from people who came before us.

Evidence of Being
is about keeping a record of it.

I help families bring order and context to the evidence they already have, document the life happening now, and preserve the stories that belong with it.

FAMILY ARCHIVING /
THE EVIDENCE YOU ALREADY HAVE

yOUR FAMILY HISTORY, ORGANIZED & PRESERVED

Family history has a way of accumulating everywhere: boxes of photographs, old albums, home movies, hard drives, letters, documents, heirlooms, and collections no one quite knows what to do with.

I provide full-service family archiving to bring clarity and organization to what you already have.

From archival-grade scanning and professional digitization to collection organization, photo management, heirloom documentation, archival-quality storage, and preservation planning, I can help turn a scattered collection into an archive your family can actually use.

A collection of black and white photographs displayed on a white surface, featuring various scenes including people, buildings, and outdoor landscapes.

I sort and organize your photographs, documents, home movies, and other family materials while documenting the names, dates, relationships, and stories connected to them. You’re left with a clear, organized collection where you can actually find what you’re looking for and understand what you have.

ORGANIZATION & DOCUMENTATION

I professionally digitize photographs, negatives, slides, home movies, and other family media, then organize the resulting files so they’re easy to find, view, and share. You receive high-quality digital copies along with a preservation plan for protecting both your digital files and the originals.

DIGITIZATION & PRESERVATION

A cardboard box containing collectible tickets, a plastic bag, and various paper items.

I photograph and document the objects, collections, and keepsakes that carry your family’s history, including the stories of who they belonged to and why they mattered. You receive a visual and written record that preserves that history whether you keep the physical objects, pass them on, or eventually let them go.

PHOTOGRAPHY & FILMS /
THE EVIDENCE YOU'RE STILL MAKING

YOUR LIFE,
AS IT ACTUALLY IS

I create documentary photography and films that preserve your real life. From everyday family stories and sensory-sensitive sessions to personal documentary projects and legacy films, the focus is on the details that make a life recognizable as your own.

I believe the photographs you care about most may not be the ones where everyone was looking at the camera, they'll be the ones that show you what it was like to be there.

I sit down with you (or someone you love) for a guided, filmed conversation about their life, memories, and the stories they want remembered. I turn that interview into a documentary film, using family photographs and home movies to help tell the story.

LEGACY FILMS

A young boy wearing goggles and colorful swim trunks jumping into a swimming pool on a sunny day.

I create documentary-style photographs for small brands and businesses by capturing the people, process, space, products, and details behind the work. You receive a library of natural, story-driven images to use across your website, social media, marketing, and press.

SMALL BRANDS & BUSINESSES

A newborn baby with a red and purple head, lying on a white hospital sheet, wearing a blue and white striped hospital gown, crying with eyes closed, in a hospital bassinet.

I spend time with you and photograph your life as it actually happens, without posing every moment or asking everyone to perform for the camera. The result is a collection of photographs that shows your people, relationships, routines, and the little details of this season of your life.

DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY

You don’t need professional equipment or archival experience to preserve your family’s story. My workshops and classes teach practical ways to document the life happening around you and take better care of the record you’re already creating.

Learn how to document your life, organize your photographs, preserve your family history, and create a record that lasts.

It’s about knowing what to document now, what to preserve for later, and how to do both well.

HI, I'M SUZY!

I’m a photographer by practice, a storyteller by instinct, and a professional collector of evidence that we were here.

A late-diagnosed autistic woman raising a handful of children, I’ve known grief through both child death and pregnancy loss. Those experiences have shaped the way I understand love, loss, memory, and the strange significance ordinary things can take on over time.

Most of my life has been spent paying attention to people and the traces we leave behind. What we remember. What we collect. What gets passed down. What becomes important only after enough time has gone by.

Professionally, my background spans more than fifteen years of photography and filmmaking, along with home organization, archival study, and birth and death support. These all come back to the same fascination: people, their stories, and what remains of them.

Evidence of Being is where all of my passions come together.

It’s a place for preserving people and their stories, bringing order to the pieces they leave behind, and paying attention to the evidence of being.
